Internships & Fellowships
The Massachusetts State Treasury offers internships, fellowships, and co-ops with our various departments and agencies. All interns, fellows, and co-ops must be currently enrolled students, and all opportunities are hybrid or in-person. Questions? Reach out to internships@tre.state.ma.us.
Student Programs
Internship
Internship opportunities are available every summer and occasionally during the fall and spring semesters. There are a wide variety of opportunities available throughout the Treasury departments, all designed to give students hands-on experience in their area of interest or study. Current high school, undergraduate, or graduate students who are enrolled in a Massachusetts school or who are residents of Massachusetts are eligible to apply. Internships run for a 10-week period and can be part- or full-time.
Finance Fellowship
The Treasury Finance Fellowship is a summer opportunity for students interested in entering the financial services industry. Each fellow will be provided with the professional skills needed to launch their careers in finance and will benefit from a mentoring program designed to help them navigate possible career paths. The Finance Fellowship is open to undergraduate students who attend a Massachusetts institution or who reside in Massachusetts but attend school out-of-state.
Co-op
The Treasury’s Legal Department offers a summer Co-op opportunity for 2L or 3L law students. Co-ops will be exposed to a variety of areas, with a primary focus on research and ad hoc projects, and will assist the legal team with researching specific law and policy questions, preparing for administrative hearings, drafting briefs, and attending various meetings. The legal co-op program is a full-time opportunity that runs for 10 to 12 weeks during the summer.
